Dockside Crane Structural Inspection

Problem
An ageing dockside crane required a full structural inspection without taking the berth out of service for scaffold erection.
Method
A two-person IRATA-trained team accessed the crane jib, A-frame and counterweight by rope over two consecutive night shifts, capturing 600+ geo-tagged photographs and ultrasonic thickness readings.
Outcome
Detailed defect report delivered within 4 working days. Two priority repairs identified before they became critical — saving an estimated £180k in unplanned downtime.
